How is Orixcom IP Transit service billed?

There are two billing models businesses can choose from:

1. Flat-Rate Pricing:

Under this model, customers pay a fixed monthly fee for a specified amount of bandwidth, regardless of actual usage. This model offers predictability and simplicity, making it suitable for customers with consistent bandwidth requirements and budgetary constraints. However, it may lead to under utilisation or overage charges if actual usage deviates significantly from the subscribed bandwidth. 

2. 95th Percentile Billing:

This model is commonly used in the industry, especially in data centre and colocation environments. It involves measuring a customer's bandwidth usage at regular intervals (e.g., every 5 minutes) and discarding the top 5% of the usage peaks. The customer is then billed based on the 95th percentile of the remaining bandwidth usage. This model aims to account for occasional traffic spikes while providing a more predictable billing structure than pure usage-based pricing. 

Do I need my own ASN and IP addresses for IP Transit?
Yes, to use IP Transit effectively, your organisation typically needs its own Autonomous System Number (ASN) and public IP address blocks. However, if you are not yet ready to manage your own ASN or IPs, Orixcom can provide interim solutions like IP sub-allocations or managed routing.
How can I ensure redundancy in my IP Transit setup?
To build a redundant IP Transit setup, consider using multiple upstream providers across geographically diverse data centres. Implement BGP routing policies to intelligently manage failover, load balancing, and traffic prioritisation.
What is the difference between IP Transit and BGP?
IP Transit is a service that provides your network with access to the global internet through one or more upstream providers. BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), on the other hand, is the routing protocol used to exchange routing information between networks, including during IP Transit.
